The first half of 2015 raced by. The high spots for me were:

Theatre: Hamilton, which deserves all the praise it’s getting, and Something Rotten!—the funniest show I’ve seen in years.

Film: I was disappointed with the Academy Award selections, especially the winner. My favorite film? Paddington! I love that bear.

Most Fun Party: Inmaculada de Habsburgo and Dan Henninger’s terrific celebration of our 40th Wedding Anniversary, with special salutes from Susan and William Kinsolving, Mike Laughlin, and Dick Jenrette. Thanks to all!

Our Newest Go-To Place: Our ocean front condominium at beautiful Ocean House, Watch Hill, RI.

Favorite Trips: Portugal to look at gardens, to Runnymede to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta with the Pilgrims, a British-American friendship group. Wonderful visits to English gardens: Nyman’s, Gravetye Manor, and Sissinghurst Castle Garden. Loved the early snowdrops and the summer roses. Missed the bluebells. (Next year, I hope).

Family: Terrific four day trip on beautiful sailboat Whisper to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, with Melanie, Eddie, Braeden and Kinsley Tate.

Most Enjoyed Gifts From our Greenville, NC Family: South Carolina peaches and North Carolina tomatoes. Yum yum.

Unexpected Learning: The story of the Lusitania at the English Speaking Union.

Most Rewarding Philanthropy: Our relationship with the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance. Hurray for SIBA!
