Representative Carolyn Maloney wants to bring a pair of pandas to New York. What a great idea! Surely everyone would be thrilled if we had pandas. (I adore them.) But while most people love the idea, not Mayor de Blasio. Ms. Maloney has told us, “the mayor doesn’t like pandas.” Why am I not surprised? He doesn’t like horses. He mishandled a poor little groundhog, which subsequently died.

He seems to hate animals. We can only hope, as he blocks our getting pandas and tries to rid us of horses, that he doesn’t decide to ban all animals from New York.

Imagine the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular without camels and other animals that make the Christmas program so wonderful. The end of feeding and care of the animals in the zoos. (He has declared no city money to help with the Panda Plan.) Given his hostility to animals, will he ban the dogs we all love so much? Other household pets? How far will he go?

Let’s help Carolyn bring pandas to New York.

Let’s continue to fight to keep our horses and their carriages.
