This is a relaxing book, as sweet as the special cake often featured in the series. The action revolves around a family wedding outdoors, on a farm, complete with cows, a bull, chickens, and a lot of dogs. Nothing really bad happens, but there’s a lot of tension about the bull, the weather, and various meetings between the guests. The book will be most appealing to people like me, who have read all the earlier Mitford books, but readers looking for a restful book will find it here.
I’m also re-reading Jane Cleland’s wonderful mystery series. She has another book coming out soon—a Christmas book: Ornaments of Death: A Josie Prescott Antiques Mystery. A double joy for me because I love all her books, and I love Christmas books. I’m re-reading the series to reacquaint myself with the characters, and their adventures. Highly recommended!
